A few months ago I was introduced to someone’s father. A sprightly pensioner in his seventies, sandals and shorts, “Bob” positively glowed with health. Which was surprising really as according to established medicine he should have been long dead by now. Diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, he had been given 6 months to live two years past. He had tried chemotherapy but found it “disagreeable” … and had come to the decision that it was better to refuse treatment: after all, in his late sixties he felt he had had a good innings.
So what changed? It was all down to the black sheep of the family, a lad who had “dabbled” in illegal activities, and who had become aware of the possibilities of cannabis oil with cancer treatments. He had studied it on the net, made some up and persuaded his Dad to try it – just to help with the pain if anything. “I thought why not – in a few months I’d be in a hospice on morphine which is a kind of heroin isn’t it?”
Unbeknown to Bob, “Jim” was increasing his doseage of the cannabis oil – up to and just over a gram a day. “I didn’t really think about where he was getting it from” he added “if I had, I might not have continued to take it. I knew he grew a few plants for his own smoke – its why some of the family refused to visit him – but I had no idea he had increased the number of plants to the point where he’d have gotten in serious trouble for me”. After a few months Bob noticed he was starting to feel a lot more healthy again. The headaches had gone and he no longer had trouble breathing. Six months after starting the cannabis oil treatment he went back to the hospital for a scan – where his doctors were amazed to find the cancer was reduced immensely. He’s now in full remission and continues to take a maintenance dose daily.
Bob was lucky and he knows it. Lucky that for him, the cannabis oil worked, lucky he listened to a son many in his family had written off as waster – but whose knowledge of the weed world had made him aware that there was something wonderful happening. Cannabis oil isn’t a wonder drug, nor the elixir of youth, but there is enough anecdotal and scientific evidence accumulating that it deserves more of a mainstream audience than Facebook groups and mentions in patient support forums. BudBuddies in the UK is trying to make that happen. For the past six months they have been treating and filming the progress of cancer patients around England for a documentary:

But this film is self funded and really needs support to make sure it airs on mainstream TV in the autumn. Please visit the website and donate – a few dollars, a few pounds. Medical marijuana is not just the province of some US states and Canada. Until this becomes mainstream worldwide, too many people will die unaware that there may be a treatment. And too many people may go to prison for trying to help their loved ones find that treatment. Loving someone isn’t a crime – and neither is the desire to live.
